Justin brings a new element to the family at Rehab United and we are very excited that he's with us! Justin is a Registered Sports Dietitian, as well as a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, and is fired up about his opportunity to contribute to an awesome staff and facility at Rehab United/SPC. He completed his Master’s degree in Kinesiology at San Diego State University in May 2007 and holds several fitness certifications including Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (NSCA), USA Weightlifting Club Coach, Certified Health/Fitness Instructor (ACSM), and Certified Personal Trainer (ACE). Justin also hold the Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics distinction - the premier professional sports nutrition credential in the United States.
His interest in nutrition and fitness began as a young motocross racer, after reading an article on eating well to increase performance. In high school Justin wrestled and ran track, but the eventual lack of calls and letters from scouts led him to the realization that competing at the Division I collegiate level was beyond reach. Justin soon turned his focus to improving the performance and lives of others and graduated from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 2003 with a dual degree in Nutrition and Kinesiology and later completed his dietetic internship at the University of Houston.
His experience includes training athletes from the Junior High to Olympic level, teaching college courses, providing nutrition therapy to patients with a multitude of medical conditions, and presenting sport nutrition and fitness lectures to an array of audiences. He also works as the strength & conditioning coach for the SDSU Women’s Lacrosse team. Justin grew up in the Los Angeles area and, thus, bleeds Dodger blue (but hopes Padre fans won’t hold that against him too much). His dream of becoming a rock star faded some time ago and he now aspires to share his passion for fitness and nutrition through training and educating elite athletes as a strength coach and dietitian.
Justin has been instrumental in establishing Rehab United's new nutrition lecture series, which started on April 18, 2007 to an amazing turnout of over 80 community participants. The lecture series will be held here at Rehab United every 6-8 weeks. Rehab United clients are free and admission for newcomers is only a $5 donation to the Rehab United Scholarship Fund and other Rehab United charities. Keep your eyes posted to the Rehab United home page under Events soon for the updated nutrition lecture series schedule and promotions.
