Brian Wilson, MPT, USAC Level II
Licensed Physical Therapist
USA Cycling Level II Coach
Triathlon Performance Coach
Director/Founder/Coach of "Pedal Power" Spin Program
Co-Director of E.X.C.E.L. TM (EXercise to Compete at the Elite Level) Triathlon/Marathon Strength & Conditioning Program

Originally from Kansas City, Missouri, Brian was recruited out of high school to run track and cross country at Western Colorado State in Gunnison, Colorado. Although running track was a great opportunity, Brian was still drawn toward his love of soccer. After 1 year in Gunnison, he accepted a scholarship to play collegiate soccer at Graceland University (2006 NAIA national champions...GO JACKETS!!!). While at Graceland, he earned a B.S in Biology in 2001 and gathered conference and national honors as a student athlete. Upon graduating, Brian began a short stint of travel, climbing in the Rockies and Cascades, but eventually settled back in Missouri as a high school science teacher. Shortly thereafter, he was given the head coaching position for the girls & boys varsity soccer teams.
Through coaching, Brian developed a focus on athletic training as well as a desire to learn more about exercise physiology and kinesiology, which led him into the field of physical therapy. Brian was reluctant to leave coaching, but was enthusiastic about the opportunity to study the science behind rehabilitation at Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2006, he received his Master of Physical Therapy Degree.

While in graduate school, Brian applied the principles of physical therapy to his three favorite things: cycling, running, and swimming (in no particular order, of course). In doing so, he quickly rose to the top of the competition earning numerous 1st place age group finishes and podium honors amongst the elite/pro triathletes. Although urged by his wife and close friends to commit full time to the sport and turn pro, he couldn’t ignore his desire to work in the field of physical therapy. After moving to San Diego, he now feels he can get the best of both worlds. He prides himself in his creative approach to triathlon training that focuses on taking individuals to their peak level of fitness while emphasizing hard work, fun, and injury prevention. He looks forward to using his diverse background and success with sport in assisting with the development of an endurance/triathlon training program at Rehab United. He will be helping others establish periodized training programs that emphasize an achievable balance of disciplines without injury and burnout. At Rehab United there is never a dull moment for Brian's clients! He's always singing, dancing and infecting all around him with his energy, witt and laughter as he prides himself on uplifting anyone he encounters!
